Prepare for the unexpected when you start building!

When we first started our annex build we lived in a different house to my mum.

We were hoping to rent a place for 6 months while the new building was finished and then to move in but due to various reasons this did not happen!

Trying to sell our house to fund the completion of the build was a nightmare as the sale fell through twice.

The third time it went through was nearly a year later.

When it eventually sold the new annex building was only about 2 months away from being finished so we decided to all move in together [for money reasons mainly] as renting required us to sign up for 6 months which would have beenĀ a waste of money.

This is the reason for saying be very prepared for the unexpected, moving in with my mum who had lived alone for 6 years with her dog was a shock for us all.

Suddenly she had 2 young children and us descend on her.

Lets just say it was a very busy house, with lots of touchy moments, a few tears, and some cross words but if you do the same you just have to remind yourself that it’s not for long.

One thing it does do is give you a big push to get the new building completed.

We worked in the evenings and weekends to get things completed.

Now much of what happened is forgotten as once the dust has settled you just all move on with your life.

Just be prepared for the unexpected as there are loads of things just waiting to get you

Thanks

David
