House recycling……

Quite a random subject for me for a post but as I sat down tonight to write my latest thoughts [on a different subject I do add] , it struck me that I am sitting in a room that for 35 years was a dining room and a very unused room at that.

In fact looking back the only time I remembered it being used by us as a family was on special occasions, birthdays and Christmas’s.

As I sit here the memories come out of the walls to remind me of times past, of missing my dad, the fun we used to have and the things we talked about, strange how rooms can do that to you!

If he came back today, he would not recognise the place because of the work we have done, I sometimes wonder what he would make of it, a place he loved and lived in for nearly 35 years.

Now with our hard work [and cash] its has been recycled and transformed into our new family home, a place suitable for my young family and one leaping into the 21st century, taking us along way from the 1980’s when it was built.

Oh how things have changed in such a short time, the old dining room window has gone to be replaced by doors opening out into our garden, the TV is now slim and mounted on the wall, the wall between the dining room and the old kitchen has been removed to make us a large kitchen dinner.

The place is now a hive of activity, where kids work, watch us cook [and help them learn], sit and read stories a completely transformed living space and this is only one of the rooms in the house.

The old dated bathroom resplendent in pink has been removed and replaced by ultra modern, clean, white, shower and bathroom furniture units.

The 3 bedrooms which just gathered dust and were not used by my mum [when she lived here] are now replastered, carpeted,  with new doors.

The old 1980’s brick fire place has been plastered and mantle replaced with driftwood. All redecorated, new skitings and lights…..the change go on.

But the house has now been ‘recycled’ and it buzzes with life again, children’s toys are everywhere, mess and noise and it is great, we are very lucky.

And the more I think about the reasons for starting this site it is to spread this as a message, that recycling old places is so rewarding and I want more people to do it!!

I want to help you do the same, take a place where the life has gone out of it and make it new again, whether its for your family, your mum, your old dad, your children whoever?

I can give you the skills and the knowledge to make your dreams happen.
