The end, but not quite!!!

Had a very strange experience the other afternoon, we are in lockdown and as my old mum cannot go anywhere spends her time going from the back garden, through the house to the front garden…

As it has been so hot lately she was sat in the front garden just watching time go by and must have fallen asleep on the bench she normally sits on in the full heat of the afternoon sun.

When I went outside to go for a walk with my 2 children I woke her up and to be honest I thought I was watching my mum fade away!!…she had no idea where she was, delirious even and I thought what am I going to do here on my own with 2 young children, I was not sure I wanted them to witness my mum dying – how would that affect them?

She had no idea who she was or where she was, had absolutely no idea what to do but tried to stay calm as the kids were with me.

I tried to raise her to walk into the shade, no good just too heavy, my daughter ran and got her a glass of water, she took a few sips but spilled most of it, I then got a parasol and rigged that over her to take away some of the sun, to try and cool her down..

Then as if by magic her friend called around they usually sit about 10ft away from each other in the from garden and chat, we talked and reassured each other things would be ok, mum started to come around and my friend agreed to sit with her for a while. so I went for a walk with the kids – sounds bad now and frined I have told cannot believe what I did they even laugh at the situation!!

when I came back from my walk mum was fine and I was able to walk with her into the shade, so glad but just another small example of glad she lives with us in the annex, I we had not been here not sure what the outcome would have been
