SHOPPING & SHOWERING IN A TIME OF SOCIAL ISOLATION
We are starting to learn all sorts of new things since my mum has had to self isolate in her annex
She has had a leg with various cuts to it which has been caused by her medication to thin her blood now means it is easy to cut herself and it does not stop easily – therefore lots of plasters
the latest ones needed changing but we did this outside in the garden – well my wife did with a mask in place – thankfully we have had a good run of sunny dry weather and a nurse on hand
showering was not easy as my wife often helps but thought best to stay away – what a great time to find the small wall fixed drop down shelf seat is useless, too small, too low and so I have removed it – leaving a big ugly bracket on the wall!!
we have now ordered a portable stool from a mobility shop so hope it comes soon which will allow her to perch in the shower tray, help support her and be much more secure/safe when she washes
Lots of little things but hopefully this care will keep mother safe and away from hospital.
