SOCIAL ISOLATION in a granny annex

SOCIAL ISOLATION in a granny annex

In the last week we have now decided to keep apart from each other as my mum is 89 and in the vulnerable group

We have 2 young children and my wife works as a nurse so a few big risks here for mum

She is super frail now and I have no idea how she would have coped in the bungalow on her own, to be honest she would not have

we have shopped for every few days, made additional meals for her, walked her dog, kids have made drawings to help cheer her up

the bills are paid, the annex is maintained by me, drains unblocked, shower fixed, loads of things we all take for granted until there is nobody to fix them – I am sure I am not appreciated but things just get done to keep us all going

my wife does lots for her, patching up cuts on her leg, helping her shower, being polite and pleasant to her even though she is regularly rude to her – but she just gets on with it, she’s brilliant and I don’t know how we would manage without her

well of to teach the kids for a day and my wife is of to a busy hospital, will await her safe return and update on how things really are

So hope all you granny annexes stay safe and would love to hear from other people stuck inside!!!

thanks
