Hoovering or how small things can get under your skin!

THE HOOVER SAGA

This may sound so minor, so unbelievably petty as to why write about it but it just shows how simple things can occupy older people and cause the silliest of reactions in those around them, especially when you are living close together in an annex.

The hoover in question is far from that, gone are the days of the paper bag, overflowing and blowing smelly dust out at you when you tried to change it no….this is a state of the art Dyson, with its recharging unit, small go anywhere head, easy clean filter!!!

But put it in the hands of someone who is in their 80’s, who has no patience nor willingness to learn about emptying and cleaning filters and you get rage, shouting and bluster…

Whats wrong with this bloody thing, why does it keep stopping, I want another vacuum machine, even though this is the third machine we have bought, it still does not work properly.

We must be able to do something, apart from throw the thing over the garden fence no we have to keep going, listening and changing filters and cleaning out the little clear tubes, of string, hair, sweets anything that dares go near the end of the machine.

It is no use though as much as we try to explain, we get nowhere so have decided to buy numerous filters so there is always one for emergencies and just put up with the moaning, mad but we are only talking about cleaning a small annex although it does have a rather hairy residential Labrador, but we all have to be patient!

So it might sound a silly blog comment but I only write this as a real example of the things to expect during your time together and when you may need to step back count to 10 and just keep on going – happy hovering

Thanks
