Who are my customers?
Who are the people who use my services, well what follows below is an example of some of the people that I have helped.
Their names are made up but are based on real people.
Troubled Trevor
He is a married family man with young children and wife who works part time to help with the bills and keep the family together.
He has got 2 elderly parents alive but they both live a 2 hour car journey away.
It is very difficult having the time to see them. Stressful when he doesn’t see them and stressful when he does, lots of worry either way.
All the visits are rushed and he worries that they are getting older and making mistakes and doing things in and around the house which could be dangerous. He also misses them!
He and his wife get in a state about the situation and don’t know what to do.
The idea is to create a larger annex onto their property and allow both parents to come and live with them.
Worried Wendy
Since the death of her husband and with two 2o something children she is worried about losing her children’s inheritance if she should need to go into care.
She doesn’t have anyone to look after her. She lives on her own in a bungalow and is considering building an extension so that one child can move in and have their own living space for them and their family.
If she does then get ill she can stay at home and be looked after and keep the bungalow secure in her child’s name.
Frightened Fred
Since the death of his wife he lives alone in a large house.
In order to make life more bearable for his son and daughter in law to stay he has created an ensuite upstairs with bedroom for them.
Recently he is not able to get upstairs so has had to build a walk in shower room for him and kitchenette with easy access.
The house is now in 2 sections so that he can stay there with limited mobility and his son or carer has space to live and look after him.
Stressed Mr & Mrs Jones
They both live with their family in part of the country which they don’t like anymore and wish to move for better schools and a better environment for all.
Their mother in law who lives on her own in the same town also wants to move.
They both decide on location and the family buys a nice size property which they have found can be converted with an annex.
They borrow additional money on the strength of the mother in laws house and build the annex.
Once complete the mother in laws flat is sold thus releasing money which enables her to move.
The mother in law lives in the annex and proves to be much needed help to the family where both parents work and she gets to move with the family to a lovely location.
The above are just some of the ways multi generational living is changing and improving housing solutions in the changing world of today
If you have an idea for changing your house or are stuck in a situation you wish to try and change please drop me a line and I will try to help you
thanks
david
