A step by step guide to extending living spaces.

A step by step guide to extending living spaces.

A step by step guide to extending living spaces.

Now our project is all but finished I am reflecting back about what we have achieved. It has been a long 3 year project but so worthwhile and the reason for setting up MGLivingSpaces.com

Starting out I want to help keep families together that is my main aim. But one of the other ideas about the site is to help others do what we did. To show you what is possible, in all sorts of ways.

I want to take away some of the fear and stress that you may have about starting a project.

Guide you to think and start. To talk and share and to get your ideas moving.

That is if you’ve got that far.

If you haven’t got that far then to give you encouragement to start.

And if you have already begun and are finding yourself a bit stuck, to help you then.

Pretty much at any point in the building of more space for a loved one, I can offer you genuine and helpful advice.

I will show you areas where we made mistakes and so try to help you avoid the same.

Throughout our project there were lots of new areas & ideas that came up – I will share these with you.

All sorts of new issues and problems and I want to raise these and show you how they can be avoided. Or if you do encounter them ways to get over them.

We learn’t lots of new ways to deal with things.

I worked on the house in ways that I did not think possible. My wife also learn’t loads of new things about building and doing up houses.

And along the way we learn’t about each other and how to overcome stuff together as a team.

As I write this one of the ways I propose to do this is to provide a step by step guide to extending living spaces. This was not available to us in an easy to use format when we started.

So this is what I intend to do. I will cover all the subjects that came up. Listed in a useful order to help and guide you along.

If you get stuck at any stage let me know and I can help you.

To get you back on track.

It is going to take a while to produce because I want it to be accurate and as full as possible, so bear with me.

But the following are some of the subjects that I am going to cover with more added s as I finish them.

Initial thoughts – how to start a conversation

First Ideas – what does each person want

Thinking Time – ways to mull ideas

Talking – how to progress the living space

Possible Options – different ways to create space

Objectives – details about what to do and build

Whats planning – helpful information and guidance

Annex Issues – things to look out for, ways around regulations.

Finding An Architect – how and what to do to get good drawings

Getting the design right – looking in more detail and showing you lots of examples

Drawings explained – what are plans, elevations, sketches etc. What do we need

Too Much Information

And on…….

If after reading this you need advice sooner rather than later please drop me a line. I will try to help you, or if you have ideas please let me know about things you would like covered.

If I cannot help you I should be able to point you in the right direction. Because that is another thing when you do a project, you get to know others along the way who can help you in all sorts of ways.

I am willing to share these people with you.

Well its good to write about this and I hope you find it interesting.

As I said the step by step guide will take a while but please keep reading and I will put it together shortly.

Thanks

David
