‘Building a granny annex’ – the movie!
Well, I got your attention and unfortunately no the movie has not been made yet [if there were enough requests however I might consider making it]
But no on a serious note if you would like to see how an annex is created then I can show you in a variety of ways, either using one or a combination of words, sketches and photos.
It might make it easier to understand what is involved – what do they say ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’
The talks I have given before have been for various reasons, at college, to students and other people at different work places. I have covered all sorts of building subjects but with creating new livings spaces I guess topics will be as follows:
From the initial ideas, through drawings, to starting the work, clearing the site, digging foundations, building walls, putting on the roof, installing heating, plastering, decorating, fitting kitchens and bathroom I can show you either how it is all done [might take some time] or just sections of the work whichever you suggest.
How this happens could take a few different ways, I will gladly come and visit you to give you or your family [or more people if required] a talk on these issues, so that you can see what are the main areas required.
I am also considering maybe hiring a small hall to give the talk if there was enough interest.
If you have particlualr areas or questions please let me have these and then I can cover those areas as well.
This might sound like a strange thing to do but having completed a 3 years annex conversion I have learnt a lot, and I have been very surprised about what I didnt know. Even as an experienced builder and project manager lots of things came up so if you have little or no experience you might find it very worthwhile.
So this is a genuine offer, and I would be pleased to discuss it further with anyone should they be interested.
